SEGA Acquisition Relic Entertaintment


TOKYO - game studio based in California, THQ officially closed by selling all company assets in an auction. Now the Japanese game company, SEGA, officially buy one of the assets that belong to THQ, Relic Entertaintment.

As reported Originalgamer, Friday (25/01/2013), SEGA Corporation, headquartered in Tokyo, was officially acquired all the shares and multiple IP belongs to THQ Canada Inc., on 24 January. It was done, in order to strengthen the ability of developing gaming PC (personal computer) in the United States and Europe.



Game studio Relic Entertaintment established in 1997 and acquired by THQ Canada in 2004. THQ Canada is increasingly recognized as Relic Entertaintment since acquired, since then the studio this game provides a number of high quality games, which include the equivalent of movie quality graphics with various game features strategic, especially for the PC market in the U.S. and Europe.

"We are very pleased to be joining Relic Entertaintment SEGA family. Acquisition is a strategic fit and an important step in the growth of our business," said John Cheng, President and CFO for SEGA America.

"They are a respected studio with experience in game development, creative and innovative, and we hope to make a great thing together in the coming years,"

Today, SEGA has three game development companies in the U.S. and Europe, and is in the process of improving the compatibility of the game field is rapidly growing as, online PC games, gaming smartphone and social games online.

As of the acquisition hasill THQ Canada, SEGA will further advance the provision of a variety of exciting entertainment content, by using a high capability of THQ Canadian development team. (amr)
